Licensing Requirements for Mobile, AL Real Estate Agents

If you’re interested in becoming a licensed real estate agent, and showing homes in Mobile, Fairhope, Daphne and other Alabama communities, the following information provides an overview of the process.

The Road to Obtaining a Mobile, AL Real Estate License and Beginning Your Career

Applicants for Alabama Real Estate Agent Licensure must:
  1. Meet initial requirements. The Alabama Real Estate Commission states that an Alabama real estate agent applicant must:
    • be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien or legally present in the U.S;
    • be at least 19 years old;
    • show proof of bona fide residency in any state in the U.S.;
    • show proof of high school graduation or GED;
    • not have been convicted of a felony or a crime involving moral turpitude; and,
    • not have had a real estate application or license rejected or revoked in any state within the past two years.
  2. Complete a 60 hour pre-license course. Roberts Brothers, in partnership with Academy Real Estate, schedules classes regularly.
  3. Take and pass (70%) the State Real Estate Exam.

  1. Interview with companies you like. Compare what each company offers you in the way of training and support to help you succeed quickly.   2. Choose a broker and apply to the Alabama Real Estate Commission for a temporary license, which is held by your broker. You are able to begin your real estate career when your broker receives this license.
  3. Attend company training, begin building your business, and complete the 30-Hour Post License Course
  4. Apply for an Original Salesperson’s License.
  5. Continue your business development through additional programs offered by your company and your Board of Realtors®.
